National rural Fellowship design & roll out

The context: Envisioned around 2010, the SBI Youth for India Fellowship aimed to address the lack of a nationwide reliable platform that can inspire the educated urban youth to contribute in the development work in rural areas in a short term manner, transforming them personally, providing rural NGOs with higher skills and thereby creating positive grassroots change

Key Impact

Work with:
SBI Foundation

The goal: Roll out a scaled up Youth for India programme, incorporating learnings from the pilot batch.

The work done: With a significantly lean team, processes of promotion, recruitment, brand building, orientation, Fellow support systems were reimagined and these continue to be the reference standards post 10 years of the Fellowship running. Partnership building with new NGOs, mentoring young Fellows into development professionals and a successful transition to continue the fellowship effectively has been a key achievement.

Today, with more than 10 years completed, the Fellowship counts as a premier gateway for talent into the development sector, with SBI YFI Fellows constituting senior leadership of established NGOs, setting up impact enterprises of their own and conducting key impact research and policy work.
