Transforming a rural school model.

The context: For 4 decades, the Barefoot ecosystem had ensured schooling for children of marginalized communities with an alternative model, popularized as 'night schools'. However, over years with Right to Education and significant investment in the sector, ground realities have shifted. Need for now is to demonstrate a scalable grassroots model that equips existing rural schools to provide quality sustainable education that is contextualized, holistic, future orientated and inclusive.

Key Impact

Work with: Barefoot College International

The goal: With this context, the challenge was to revive the BCI Education program with a renewed scalable strategy relevant to today's context that can make quality digital schooling possible anywhere - even at the remotest locations.

The work done: Weaving around the innovation of a solar powered projector (EduBox), necessary elements of a complete 'school anywhere' model was built including curriculum, teacher's training and monitoring and evaluation framework. Over 4 years, complete transformation of the Education vertical was achieved - including fundraising for financial sustenance and 5x programme expansion, policy rationalization and 4x team expansion, media visibility and innovation. Significant emphasis was put on adherence to organizational values, child protection and gender equity.
